The Nintendo GameCube is a home video game console by Nintendo that is part of the sixth-generation of video game consoles.

It was the successor to the Nintendo 64 and was notable for being the first Nintendo console to use optical discs. The optical discs are also relatively small compared to other discs, such as a typical compact disc or DVD. It is not backwards compatible with the Nintendo 64.
