The Nintendo Entertainment System is a video game home console released by Nintendo. It is part of the third generation of video game consoles.

In Japan, the system was known as the Family Computer (Japanese: ファミリーコンピュータ), shortened as the Famicom (Japanese: ファミコン). Additionally, the Famicom received a peripheral in Japan known as the Famicom Disk System, which allows the user to play video games from a floppy disk.

It was released on July 15, 1983 in Japan, October 18, 1985 in North America and Korea, September 1, 1986 in Europe and 1987 in Australia.

Various Sanrio related games were released in Japan for the Famicom produced by companies Character Soft, Mario, Ape and ASCII Corporation, such as Hello Kitty World.
