Why is it spelled with "V" instead of "W"? Is it from Latin?--TauDudeBlobber (talk) 09:19, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

In relation to if it's from Latin, I'm not sure sorry. However, ウ is similar to the sound "u" [ [ɯ̟ᵝ]] and イ is similar to the sound "i" [i]. When a smaller scaled vowel appears after the previous kana (ィ); the sounds blend (so it's like u+i). That can be interpreted as something like "wi" or "vi". The word ウォー (war) for instance, combines ウ (u) and a scaled オ (o). In fact, this title might also be something like wiwin or "wee~wee~n"), similar to (Nintendo) Wii (ウィー). I don't know the etymology behind the name of ウィーウィーン but because it's related to machines, perhaps it's from "whee", similar to having fun from a ride machine. As for the the game console Wii; I believe that was from "we" as in people being together. Another possible use is "wee" (other than other uses of the word:) as in "wee-wee"; something that is small, similar to 小っちゃい. In fact "vi" is probably more like ブイ; with these factors in mind I changed the page. EvieMelody (talk) 20:47, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
