Not to be confused with Hello Kitty Racing Adventures or (though very similar) Hello Kitty Kruisers with Sanrio Friends

Hello Kitty and Sanrio Friends 3D Racing is a racing video game for Nintendo 3DS and PC. It was released in the United States, Europe and in Japan as Hello Kitty no Kirakira Wakuwaku Race (Japanese: ハローキティのキラキラわくわくレース). It is based on the iOS and Wii U game called Hello Kitty Kruisers with Sanrio Friends.

In the United Kingdom, one could pick up the game from "Game" stores to receive an "exclusive Sanrio 40th anniversary tin".

Gameplay

When starting the game for the first time, the player must create a profile with a username. This profile stores their progress. Up to three profiles can be made. The profiles have icons of Hello Kitty, Kerokerokeroppi and Bad Badtz-Maru.

The game features three modes, "Quick Play", "Tournament", "Adventure".

Before starting a race in Quick Play and Tournament mode, the player must choose a Sanrio character to race as.

In Adventure mode the player must use a given Sanrio character for each mission.

Quick Play, Tournament and Adventure mode have the player select a vehicle.

Some tracks require the player to race with a car on land. Other races have the player racing through the sky with a plain and on the sea with a boat.

More vehicles can be unlocked by progressing through the game, as well as different colour schemes for the vehicles and up to two alternative outfits for each of the ten available characters.

At least the Nintendo 3DS version of the game has some uncommon, unexplained glitches that may cause the software to close or racers to begin the race before it has begun.

Quick Play mode

In Quick Play mode, the player can choose to race on a single track from one of the four tours, where they will race against other characters over three laps for first place. The player is returned to the menu after the results of the track.

Tournament mode

In Tournament mode, the player can play from one of four tours and their own selection of tracks, where they will race against other characters for first place. At first, only the first tour is available. However, a new tour can be unlocked by completing the latest existing tour.

Adventure mode

In Adventure mode, the player can try out four missions from a group of four levels abbreviated as "ADV" (presumably adventure).

These missions include "Cupcake Collect", "Gate Swoop", "Time Challenge", "Apple Course". A new adventure is available after clearing existing missions, featuring different characters for each adventure.

Characters

Not all of the characters are available at first. More can be unlocked after playing through tracks, tournaments.
